No doubt vaccines, which you may not have spent much time thinking about in your practice in the past, have now become an important issue for you personally, as well as for your patients and their families. I am your CAPWHN representative on Immunize Canada. At our recent Annual General Meeting, I learned about some great resources that I want to share with you.
The first is the Vaccine Safety Net (VSN) – see the link below.
Many of us are concerned about vaccine safety. Knowing where to search for reliable information can be a challenge in our current infodemic! VSN is a global network of websites, established by WHO, that provide reliable information on vaccine safety. There are 94 member webistes, 41 countries and 35 languages represented! The information posted on the various sites is for governments, health care professionals and the general public.

If you are searching websites for information- look for the VSN member logo. It will be posted on the home page of the site, if it is an approved member of VSN. I found the VSN logo on the following excellent Canadian sites that I use in my practice: Immunize BC, Immunize Canada, CPS- Caring for Kids, Public Health Ontario, Government of Canada – Public Health.
The second excellent resource I want to share with you is a Canadian VSN member called CANVax.
CANVax was developed by the Canadian Public Health Association and is the first online database of its kind in Canada to support immunization program planning and promotional activities to improve vaccine acceptance and uptake in Canada. CANVax houses a collection of curated evidence based products and resources to make it easier for public health professionals to access and gather resources to inform activities aimed at improving vaccine coverage.

CANVax is a fantastic site that has general vaccine information as well as some specialty resources for health care professionals. See some of the resources below. I hope this information will help you both personally and professionally as we move forward with beating COVID, as well as other vaccine preventable diseases in 2021!
